I wasn't planning to move...

But then I saw this (it's part of the house):
Now that's a safe!
Found in a Zillow property listing (no link to it to protect future buyer's privacy)...  And it's part of the property!  I don't imagine it opens to house anything like this, but still....  My phriendly purveyor of phine properties tells me this one is under contract, but offered to look for something similar.

So we started to outline our list of desires which quickly became a list of reasons we don't like this house, and dimensions of Robo Cop 2 directives (you have to scroll down a bit to see a partial RC2 list of directives).   So maybe it's time to move.  After all the SandCastle has been at this location for ~20 years which predates the SCSon.  The SandCastle is our family abode, not a fixed location.

Reason's for not moving - we've improved the property in a lot of ways we like...

In less than an hour said phine property purveyor has returned 27 qualifying MLS listings within 10 miles.

Oh crap... an hour ago moving wasn't on the table.  Now it may be inevitable...

I just got a Fort Knox and it's not quite that big! If you've improved the property and increased its value that's a good thing.
We moved because after 25-years our property values skyrocketed when Google took-over everything in sight, and my wife's job at The Big Private Robber-Baron University took a turn for the worse and an early retirement buy-out beckoned. Also with the Googloid influx came English as a Second Language and Latino Gangs. Places change and we were the frog in the boiling pot that hopped-out.

Congrats on getting out while the getting was good! I like you're neck of the woods, cept the "still part of Kalifornia part" and taxed out the ying-yang for all sorts of ill considered state spending. Kinda like we spotted some really nice properties in Illinois heading to Sparta. Nice, except for the "in the state of Illinois" part.

Sign me.. the Kalifornia Escapee! They didn't let me leave, I had to escape! Sayonara slave state!

25 years gone and I'm not looking back!

I think if circumstances change much here we're on the escape wagon too! At least I'm in the "CCW-OK" part off the State, if it weren't for that...

I sincerely hope it doesn't get that bad for you. Dad is still a CA resident and will likely die there and I don't want it to get bad for him either. Plus I love the "Gold Country.

But if you do feel the urge to escape, let me know and I can hook you up and show you the good and the bad round these parts. Plus your CA profits will go a long way here! I'd be honored to have you as a neighbor. AZ CCW licenses are "shall issue" and recognized in ~30 states. And both unlicensed concealed and open carry are legal for all.

Also most taxes are lower here than CA (though sales taxes are pushing even-ish).

Downside though is the heat that immerses the Sac-tomato area 4 months of the year lasts a full 6 here. And that bites.

There's a lot to like about AZ! WEe enjoy the hea4t now, being up the hill about 1600 feet means it's not as humid as the Valley and Sac. But there is local population pressure as developers are working to make more money off bedroom communities - however the lack of water and infrastructure is a thankful block.
